Upgrade to a 4* Scotland Coast to Coast

We want to make sure you can concentrate on the job in hand – crossing Scotland in a weekend. We have devised some special packages that aim to take the strain on the small stuff – accommodation and transport.

Whether it’s a great hotel within view of the start line, with all the trappings of 4* luxury, or whether it’s a room with a view at our very own “finish line hotel” at the Isles of Glencoe, we’ve got something here for you to choose.

If you are a Scotland Coast to Coast Challenger, your standard entry includes camping accommodation at the Fort Augustus mid-point, at which you will use your own tent and sleeping bag, which we will transport for you. You may wish however to upgrade to our specially prepared 4* Dinner, B and B “Fort Augustus Upgrade” if you are more interested in duvets than groundsheets.

We’ve also got a travel option to get you back to Nairn from Glencoe after the event, should you be looking to connect with outbound transport from there.

Please note that these packages are very limited and they sell out very quickly.

Journey’s End – Isles of Glencoe Hotel (for all categories)

Our Journey’s End package provides you with B & B accommodation at the Isles of Glencoe hotel, perfectly situated directly at the finish line, where you can almost touch your room from the finish line. It’s also a very short stumble to and from the Scotland Coast to Coast after-party, which will be operating in the grounds of the hotel also.

Double and Twin beds available
£120 per room (£60 per person)

Accommodation can be booked for: Saturday 15th September or Sunday 16th September

Fort Augustus Upgrade (for Challenger category)

If camping is not for you, then our Fort Augustus upgrade allows you to bunk up in 4* boutique luxury at the Lovat Arms Hotel at the mid-point of the route. Gourmet and boutique are words that are thrown around a good deal in the hotel trade, but at the Lovat they don’t use these terms in vain. Dinner here is a real treat; take our word for it. The beds are massive too. Just what you need when you’ve got 56 miles of Scotland under your trainers and saddle and another 53 to go!

Double and Twin beds available

Standard - £170 per room (£85 per person)
Deluxe - £220 per room (£110 per person)
Master - £300 per room (£150 per person)

Accommodation can be booked for: Saturday 15th September

Bike Hire

We are pleased to announce that Wheels of Callander are the exclusive bike hire provider for the Scotland Coast to Coast 2012. They joined us, and with great service, for the inaugural event for 2010 and then 2011 and we welcome them back again, this time with direct dealing at their point of business in the Trossach’s. This is an excellent fully serviced and stress-free hire deal from our accomplished partners at Wheels. Have a look at the complete Wheels facility on their website.

Wheels have a large number of great mountain bikes. Give them a call or drop them an email, mention ‘Coast To Coast’ and make your booking: Tel. 01877 331100 - ask for John or Mark. Ref mark@wheelscyclingcentre.com

First, register at Nairn Community Centre, then travel to Cawdor Castle on the eve of the event. Please make yourself known at Registration that you are hiring a bike and you will receive complimentary Rat Race water bottle. If you have your own transport and wish to attend the transition under your own steam, please still inform that you are a Hirer at Registration. At Cawdor Castle you will meet your bike at the Wheels ‘Service Point’. Take a quick inspection and trial ride just to get the fitting and set-up right for you, then you can set the bike down into the transition there. For a nominal fee we will have a bus transfer service that will connect you between Registration in Nairn and Cawdor Castle (1200-2230). Once again, Wheels Mechanics will also be present with a ‘Service Point’ at Fort Augustus (1700-2100) in order to make any repairs and adjustments. Their expert spannermen will help you get ready for the last stage of your classic Coast To Coast journey.

When the event is over and you are relaxing near the finishline, Wheels will deal with your bike – you will have nothing to do except reflect on your challenge achieved.

Please note:

1.    Spares and tools are NOT provided as part of the hire, though these can be purchased (limited supply) from Wheels at Cawdor Castle. Consider a bicycle pump, puncture repair kit, spare 26” x 2”dia. inner tubes, tyre levers and bike multi-tools such as Allen keys and a chain repair tool. Most importantly, be practised in the use of these tools and be familiar with the workings of a bike as you will need to be self-sufficient when on this journey.
2.    Most modern bike pumps have interchangeable heads that fit both Presta (small) and Schraeder (large) valve types.
3.    Non-hirers can use the services and parts (limited supply) of Wheels for a fee, at the Service Points.
4.    You are more than welcome to use your own pedals on the hire bikes, but please note – at final transition you MUST remove the pedals and place with the rest of your equipment to be taken to the finish. We cannot take responsibility for any pedals left on a hire bike. Bike fleet will be returning to their base in Perth from final transition – you have been warned!
5.    Your ‘hire contract’ and conversation is with Wheels, so with any questions on the bike and hire, please contact them directly. They are ready and waiting to help.
